It’s Too Late The Domain Is Gone
March 23, 2016
Today is a good day to start a promotion campaign … to reach potential customers or clients with new products. One of the most effective ways to connect with new or existing clients is to use domain names … Laser Targeted Domains with a clear focus.
What does Laser Targeted Domains with a clear focus mean?
Laser Targeted Domains with a clear focus means domains (1) not requiring an explanation (2) points to a specific page (3) to your site (s). Let’s start with Laser Targeted Domains not requiring an explanation. How many times have you seen a domain and asked, “What does that mean?”
Or how many times have you seen a domain and asked, “What is that?” or it had so many dots in it you felt lost and needed a “rescue”? Laser Targeted Domains have to be clear to get the focus of a visitor in seconds, not minutes! #EveryLineCounts in the address space … every one counts. Better yet, every character counts … in the address space at the top of a webpage.
More specifically every character counts on the “home page” of a website … if it is to grab the focus of the visitor … quickly!
What’s the problem?
The problem is … after having this knowledge, many are too late! That’s right! It’s Too Late The Domain Is Gone!
This is the true story of being too late to “get your domain”.
On Sunday, November 29th in the pm, a group organizing a new club for a January 2016 launch decided on the dot club domain. It was available and ready to register.
Yes, it was available … just sitting there waiting to go to work for the new club. After seeing their new domain unregistered.
They selected P_____ to register it on Cyber Monday since he would be online shopping for deals. Well, he was so immersed in the online deals he forgot about the domain.
He forgot to register the domain. Then came Tuesday. Back to work he went. “I’ll do it when I get off”, he concluded.
Now it’s Tuesday night, his favorite drama show was on the last few minutes before midnight …. it’s still there! “I’ll do it in a minute”.
“I’ll do it in a minute”, he said. By now you probably realize what happened and you are right. In those few minutes someone else grabbed it.
He went to register it just at midnight on Tuesday and it was gone. Tearful, he spent the better part of today to find out what happened.
Well, what happened was “he didn’t take the less than five minutes” to register the domain name. Someone else did! Now it will really cost.
What a story: Isn’t it amazing he spent hours today trying to get a .club when it couldn’t find 5 minutes to register a .club domain.
After sending multiple emails back and forth he asked, “What am I going to tell my members on Sunday when we meet?”
The answer we gave …
The answer he was given was so simple … and it was stunning!
Always start with the truth because everything will certainly end with the truth.
We told him to simply tell them exactly what happened and that it will now cost more than a few dollars because some else wants to use it now.
The reply he gave was also stunning! His reply was …
This is like the Clint Eastwood movie … “I need a ‘Fist full of dollars’, don’t I” … well “Yes … you got it”, we said. What a story!
He was right … he now needs a “Fist Full of Dollars” to get those people to to give up the .club domain he could have registered in 5 min.
The message is this …
Domains are not just about the present … domains are about the future … future needs and wants for business.
He got it and acted upon that knowledge. He secured domains that he has sold for from many thousands to millions of “fist full of dollars”.
The domain space has a lot of choices and will continue to gain more. The message remains, domains are about he future not just the present.
Today’s message is this, either secure your preferred domain today for a few dollars or secure it tomorrow for a “fist full of dollars”.
Today is really a good day to start a promotion campaign … to reach potential customers or clients with new products. One of the most effective ways to connect with new or existing clients is to use domain names.
