Today’s message: “Either Secure Your Domain Today for a Few Dollars or Secure It Tomorrow for a Fist Full of Dollars” – @alphabetdomains
Can a person own more than one domain name? Will that make it easy to get into my site.
As we exchanged emails, it became clear a pattern existed for many years in the domain space. Can a person own more than one domain? YES!
You really can own more than one domain! Yes, there is no limit!
When we were asked … Can a person own more than one domain? We thought they were joking. Until it became painfully clear, this is real!
For the record! You can own as many or as few domains as you want, in any extension you like, from any Registrar you choose, at anytime!
The issue has never been the number of domains, it’s always been about what to do with the domains .. #domains #domainer #OwnIt #TakeItAll
Our last class covered some of the things one could include in their list of things to do with domains… #commercial #business #offer
Consider this … contact a local TV station and ask about running an ad on their station for a month. Hope you’re sitting down …
Consider this … contact a local newspaper and ask about running an ad in their paper for a month. Hope you’re sitting down …
Consider this … contact a local radio station and ask about running an ad on their station for a month. Hope you’re sitting down …
Hope you’re sitting down … when the answer comes … because the number could possibly floor your, or at least give the floor a quick hug.
Now ask any one of them, What would it cost to run an ad worldwide…
Now go over to your favorite Registrar and see what would 10 domains cost?
Now create an easy to read website with 5 pages, explaining what you offer and the cost, plus how you deliver the product…
Now Point 9 domains to your 5 page website and walk away.
Those 9 extra domains will work 24/7 for you with no complaints, will not bill you for extra traffic, will not want a cut of the profits.
The main domain will sit there with pride knowing it has a home. It is the leader of a domain tribe of 9… all of this for less than $100.
Plus the website will cost less if you do it yourself. It will only cost time! Secure the services of a web developer and put this site to work 24/7 and earn while you sleep.
You can tell your friends, neighbors, send emails to everyone you know asking them to check it out and there are no updated contracts.
Domains are the greatest gifts given to mankind since …. baked bread!
It’s no wonder the lady from our last class said she was dreaming about domains and they grew legs and started chasing her … domains moves.
Domains make things happen … on #BlackFriday retailers repeated the message, “Go to our website” …”go to dot this …” all domains.
When SnapChat.com was purchased for about 5K it was just a domain. When it went down the other day, it was “like life itself” for some.
An easy to get domain for around $10 became a Premium Domain for about $5K into a multi-million dollar domain… with a lot of visitors.
Here are SnapChat numbers: Snapchat has about 60 million total installs, making it larger than Instagram when it was sold to FB for $1 billion.
Of those 60 million installs, Snapchat has about 30 million monthly active users. Fifty-five % of monthly active users use it daily.
SnapChat has 16.5 million people using it every day! That’s a huge number on one site with one domain.
Now ask yourself how does SnapChat make money when users access it for free.
Snapchat is projected to earn $100 million in revenue on an annualized basis, according to Financial Times.
This four year old domain will make $100 million a year! One way is the use of a feature called “Sponsored Lenses” … it just launched in October.
The new lenses feature allows users to take a picture or video of themselves and add different animated filters to the shot.
These animations can feature different brand logos or branded animations allowing selfie features with characters from movies.
Like characters from “The Peanuts Movie.” Snapchat users could add animated characters such as Woodstock and Snoopy to their messages.
Snapchat will charge up to $750,000 for a brand to reach Snapchat’s user base on peak days like Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Black Friday.
On non-peak days, Snapchat would charge $450,000 to $750,000 to reach their entire user base.
From a $10 domain going back 12 years or so, dropped (no renewal) registered again held, then sold for like $5K with a smile & quick tear and possibly many regrets.
You have the rest of the story … Domains move people and gets thing done! #domains #premiumdomains #domainsales
What does all of this mean?
This means, buy the best domain you can afford for the most money you have to spend, put it to work 24/7 for you and the money will flow!
Additionally, the domain aftermarket has premium domains, if you want to grow a good business learn from the best. Remember, you get what you pay for!
Rule of thumb: The longer the domain the less traffic, not always, but most times it proves to be a disadvantage. Snapchat (8) Facebook (8)
Verizon (7) GoDaddy (7) Instagram (9) Linkedin (8) and so on. Got it!
Why does our domains work with more characters? Like AlphabetDomains (15) and DomainOwners (12) …
Our domains work with more characters because, Alphabet is a word everyone learned by 1st grade worldwide. Alphabet Domains are in every web address.
An exception to a longer than 8 to 10 character domain is it’s popularity. A word that everyone knows removes the length factor.
Question just in: Does it mean my 19 character domain should be changed? Answer –>
Answer: Not really, if the word or words are unknown to the general public and are hard pronounce, to spell, to connect, consider a redirect domain.
A redirect would send traffic to your site (Yes, you can own more than one domain). We covered redirect domains in our last class.
Advertise both domains, with more promotions for the shorter domain.
If needed, and you have a local store with a website, try a Geo domain (your city name) or the street name like (Maple dot ___) .. it works!
If you sell clothes you can add “plus” to the domain as in ClothesPlus.___ or HatsPlus___. Shorter means easy to type-in.
Shorter domains work. If you feel the traffic is not there consider the domain you use. If a change is needed introduce it on New Years day.
Today’s message is this, either secure your preferred domain today for a few dollars or secure it tomorrow for a “fist full of dollars”.
Any day is a good day to buy a domain name. – Alphabet Domains @alphabetdomains
